Joan Wish - Double Kidney Recipient
Joan was a well known interior designer.  She operated her interior design business, “BlueFrog” from San Antonio for many years.


Joan Mae
Glicksman Wish, was a founding Member and a committed volunteer with Vital Alliance since 1989.


Joan received the first successful bilateral kidney transplant performed
at (UHSCSA) University Hospital and maintained normal kidney function for 37 years.


Joan passed away on November 4, 2007.


Her accomplishments include:

— San Antonio Kidney Foundation , Board Member for Life

— San Antonio Working Women Association, “Volunteer of the

Year Award”

— San Antonio Symphony Volunteer

— Texas Organ Sharing Alliance Volunteer

— Vital Alliance Volunteer


In December 2007, the “Joan Wish Award” was established by
Texas Organ Sharing Alliance to recognize annually those who have committed and given selflessly of their time and efforts to the education and promotion of organ, cornea and tissue donation awareness to the community.
